The youth want to carve pumpkins as an activity
in October. In order to keep costs down, I decided to
grow pumpkins in my back yard. The pumpkin
patch is slowly overtaking my yard. I thought by
now I'd have a ton of pumpkins. To my dismay there's
only three. Apparently, the flowers have to be pollinated
in order to grow pumpkins which makes perfect sense.
What I didn't know when I started this project is that
there's a bee shortage. If you're interested, take a look at this link http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/243481/bee_shortage_why_are_the_bees_dying.html?cat=4
It's kind of interesting to me. I never thought I be
hoping for more bees but I am.
I'm crossing my fingers that if I pick a couple that the
plant will focus on growing new ones. Hopefully,
my idea is more than wishful thinking.
This pumpkin weighs more than Caleb!
I could not hold it very long.
