Family Reunion

This past week, we went to Lee Vining which is right
outside of Yosemite to have a family reunion. As you'll
see we celebrated a lot during the four days we were there.

The first night we celebrated David's father's
70th birthday at the Mobile station in Lee Vining.
Believe it or not, they have a professional chef there
and the food is amazing. Below is a picture of the older
cousins walking to the restaurant. You should have
seen the line in this place.

Check out this plate of food. I certainly wouldn't
expect it to come from a gas station:). This is a
plate of salmon. The mango salsa was to die for.

They even had live music to boot. David asked
a woman who was singing at the mic to sing happy
birthday to his father. She knew a lot of songs but
not happy birthday on the guitar. So, instead almost
everyone there joined in to sing the song a capella.

The place was hopping.

Day 2- The Bird walk/Volcano
I went on my first bird walk at Mono Lake. I was
surprised at how interesting it actually was. The park
service employee who was in charge of the walk got so
excited when we saw the different birds. Not to
mention, how knowledgeable he was. Josh got
really into it. So, his papa bought him a book to
be able to recognize the different birds, animals,
bugs and plant life. Caleb wanted one too without
the bugs, spiders and snakes.

Caleb's looking for birds!

Gilbert and Grandma

The twins- Gilbert and Owen.

After the walk, we played at a nearby park. Here
are a few shots of that.

Josh and Jone on the swings.

The water came on when we were sitting there.
The kids had a great time playing in the sprinklers.

In the afternoon, we walked to the plug in a crater
of the volcano. Caleb struggled with the trail. It
was like walking on a beach because of the pulverized
volcanic rock.

David's dad- The muscle man!

Day 3-Playing in a creek in Yosemite. This was Caleb's
pirate ship.

Tossing rocks in the creek.

Cousins

We went to the Oolong singers concert, in the high country.
I thought it was going to be some Asian people singing but
it was a lot of young people who went to a camp along with
there camp leaders. They sang mostly songs about nature.
We all enjoyed it especially Caleb who fell asleep by the end
of the first song.

Some singers walking in the cabin.

Saturday night, we had my friend Natalie's Penne
Pasta Primavera for dinner as a part of a celebration
for David, Robert and Lisa's birthdays. Laurie made
a wonderful spice cake.

The kids playing cards.

We're having dinner next to the hotel. The grounds
were so beautiful. I felt like I was eating in Martha
Stewart's yard though hers is probably much bigger.
This picture really doesn't do the yard justice.

Having breakfast in the coffee shop next to the hotel.
The interesting thing about this place is that one
morning they didn't have enough milk for our hot
chocolate. So, they went to the store to buy some for
us. Customer service really doesn't get any better
than that.

Josh's first somersault.

We ended our four day celebration by celebrating
Jim and Laurie's 45th wedding anniversary.

It was a great four day week-end. Thanks for arranging this
Jim and Laurie. I'm looking forward to our next trip.

Great job of picture taking and annotating, as usual, Stephanie.

Keep up the good work.
