We've been to the doctor so much that when Josh's doctor saw us in his waiting room this morning he thought we must be there for a physical. Oh how I wish! The E.R. doctor told us to see his regular pediatrician first thing in the morning. Then, she called us this morning to make sure he was all right and to remind us to schedule a visit. I thought that was very nice. We were seen quickly and I explained everything that had happened last night. He re-checked Josh and said he's wheezing both in the back and in the front. I did not even know that was possible. He discontinued his steriod inhaler and will be taking a liquid steriod instead which is a step up until we get this under control. We will also be giving him his albuterol every four hours and even at school. Then, returning to his office on Monday for another follow up visit.
After his examination, I had a whole list of questions for him because the E.R. made recommendations yet differed the final decisions to his doctor. Dr. Ross didn't think he need an hepa filter (it gets rid of dust mites) unless we were going to put him in a bubble and leave him there forever (he said it politely). I do not think it could hurt especially when he's sleeping. My friend Molly has an extra one she's going to let us borrow. Dr. Ross thought it would be a better idea to toss or donate all the knick knacks in his room because they're dust collectors. He also did not think that he needs an allergist or a pulmonologist just yet because although he's had problems with wheezing/allergies in the past it's only really been bad since February.
My action plan is to clean the house really well especially his bedroom. I'm going to buy him hypoallergenic bedding plus steam clean all the rugs in our home. Summer can not come quick enough. Hopefully, all the above will solve the problem.
Welcome, Sterling
