Day 1- Sunday June 29th
We weren't close to church. So, we decided to commune with
God by taking a couple of nature hikes. The first was to
Mc Arthur Burney Falls.
Josh, Caleb and Jone (our exchange student from
the Basque region of Spain) on the bridge below the
falls.
Our second hike was to the Burney Falls Pioneer
Cemetary.
Day 2 Monday, June 30th- On Lake Brittany
In the back is Jone and my dad. In the front is
my sister Christina and Matt (her husband).
The best camping days end with toasting marshmallows
for Smores. Apparently, they don't have them in Spain
because they don't have marshmallows. This was
Jone's first time making them and now she wants her
family to try them.
The last picture of Day 2 and one of
my personal favorites.

Day 3- Platoon & Wall-E (the Disney Movie)
My dad and I. Everyone says I look like him.
It's Jone's turn to drive.
Just chilling with our boys.
David messing around in the lake.
Caleb and I are putting the petal to the metal!
Congratulations Chris! She graduated while working
full time and being married.:) Now, she wants to go
to Grad school. I'm so proud of you!!!
We're celebrating with an overload of carbs. :)
Afterwards, we headed off to see Wall-E. You know
you're in a small town when there's only one
movie playing once a day at 7 p.m. We made sure
we were early.
Day4 Wednesday, July 2nd Medicine Lake, Bulls Eye Lake and Ice Caves
First, we went to the Ice Caves. The caves were cool.
No pun intended.
Bull's Eye Lake is strikingly
beautiful. Unfortunately, for us the flies were big
and aggressive. We took a walk around it and one swarmed
around my head half way around the lake. Needless to say,
I didn't really appreciate that.
I love this shot of Josh and Jone walking along the
shoreline of Medicine Lake.
We tried something new this year. We cooked Pillsbury
rolls over the camp fire. Thanks for the great idea Jessie!
Then used Missy Scoresby's recipe for honey butter.
We'll definitely do this again. It was so yummy.
Day 5- Thursday, July 3rd
We went to the Shasta caves. We had to
take a boat and bus to get there.
Day 6- The fourth of July
Mt. Lassen State Park
Josh helping his grandpa play dominoes.
We missed out on the fourth of July festivities
due to the fires. Burney the town outside of where
we were camping celebrates on the 5th instead.
Go figure!
Day 7- Saturday, July 5th
My dad cleaning a trout. He loves to fish.
I can remember him doing this as a little girl. He'd
always want me and my siblings to go fishing with him
but would always say if we caught a fish we'd
have to clean it ourselves. I know I should have
done it for the bonding time but "yuck, no thanks!"
I'll have to pass on touching fish guts. I honestly
don't know what I would have done if I were a
pioneer.
The five hour trip home took us nine hours
because we stopped at the outlets to buy Josh
school clothes and at McDonalds for an hour
because the boys needed a break.

I loved looking at your pictures! I grew up going to Burney every summer with day trips to Lassen and Subway caves. Thanks for sharing.
