Josh's Harvest Festival

Yesterday, we threw a Harvest Festival party. The
room moms and I manned four stations. Each fifteen
minutes the kids changed stations. The first station was
art. We painted Indian corn, then rolled it on paper.

The second station was cookie decorating.

Station three was two parts. First, they talked
about where popcorn comes from. Most of them
think it's from a microwavable bag. We showed them
popcorn on the cob, popcorn in a good old fashioned plastic
bag, and also in a microwavable bag. Then, they popped
popcorn on the actual cob. The kids loved it.

Part 2 was to make monster hands. Josh said
this was his favorite station. They put a candy
corn in each finger for the nails. Then, filled the
bags with popcorn and decorated them with
rings.

Station four was the book station. The kids were
engrossed.

Several weeks ago, Josh, his auntie Steena, Uncle Matt, Caleb and I
went to Ardenwood Farms and picked popcorn on the cob and
Indian corn. We had enough that each child was able to
take one home with them. The funny thing about
that day was that I choose to wear heals that day.
What was I thinking?

Wow, you actually got to pop popcorn on the cob? How did you do that and where do you get corn like that? Josh's Harvest Festival looked so fun!

Yes, Josh and I picked the popcorn right out of the corn fields at Ardenwood Farms in Fremont. Honestly, I didn't know until recently that it comes on a cob. I was told just to put it in the microwave in a brown paper bag. Then, press the preset popcorn button. I've tried it and it works. The bag doesn't even burn. I was kind of worried about that. I can send you a few. Can you e-mail me your address?
